LASC: UPDATED REMOTE HEARINGS PLATFORM PILOT TO LAUNCH IN PROBATE DEPARTMENT 2D AT THE STANLEY MOSK COURTHOUSE BEGINNING JULY 1

Simplified LACourtConnect Version 3.0 Will Improve Convenience by No Longer Requiring Advanced Registration and Including Standard Microsoft Teams Features

Beginning Monday, July 1, the Court will pilot LACourtConnect (LACC) 3.0, a new version of the Court’s remote courtroom appearance technology, in Probate Department 2D at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse for attorneys and litigants who wish to appear remotely.

The next evolution of the Court’s remote courtroom appearance platform, LACC 3.0’s new features include:

  • Same-day check-in, eliminating the existing pre-registration requirement and allowing participants to check-in on the same day a few minutes prior to their scheduled hearing.
  • Standard Microsoft Teams features with industry-leading stability and ease of use.

The Court will pilot LACC 3.0 in Probate Department 2D at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Beginning today, June 17, LACC’s existing registration page will automatically redirect court users registering to appear remotely in Probate Department 2D for hearings scheduled on or after July 1 to the new LACC 3.0 platform and direct them to return the day of their hearing to appear.

On and after July 1, litigants and attorneys wishing to appear remotely in this department can visit LACC’s welcome page and select probate as their litigation type, at which time they’ll be directed to a new page for same day check-in. This page will allow litigants and attorneys to search for their hearing by case number, courtroom calendar, first and last name or by organization. Participants will then be provided with a Microsoft Teams meeting link to join the scheduled hearing. During the pilot program, LACC 3.0 participants will still be required to use a CourtID to participate. Information on creating a CourtID can be found here. Additional information about LACC 3.0, including a reference guide, video tutorial, and a technical specifications document, will also be available for court users.

LACC 2.0, which continues to require advanced registration, will remain for all other probate departments as well as departments in civil (including small claims and unlawful detainer), family law and traffic departments during the pilot of LACC 3.0.

The Court will use data and feedback from this pilot in Probate Department 2D to inform an eventual rollout to additional courtrooms and litigation types over time.

LACC promotes convenience and choice with audio and video remote appearance options, eliminating driving, parking and childcare costs, and saving commute time to courthouses. LACC 3.0 will be available on Windows PC, macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Android devices that support Microsoft Teams. Information about LACC 2.0’s hardware and software requirements may be found here. Additional information about the LACC platform can be found on the Court’s website.
