LASC: SYLMAR JUVENILE COURTHOUSE TO REMAIN CLOSED ON THURSDAY, JAN. 9, DUE TO HURST FIRE
The Sylmar Juvenile Courthouse, located at 16350 Filbert Street in Sylmar, will remain closed for business on Thursday, Jan. 9, due to its proximity to the Hurst Fire.
All matters scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Sylmar Juvenile Courthouse will be transferred to the East Los Angeles Courthouse, located at 4848 E. Civic Center Way with counsel providing notice.
The Court will continue to balance its constitutional duty to provide access justice to Los Angeles County residents with the ever-evolving impact of the ongoing wildfires impacting the region. While the Court’s 35 remaining courthouses are expected to remain open for business tomorrow, Jan. 9., court leadership remains in communication with local and state emergency officials to obtain the latest information on emerging and existing fire threats and evacuation zones and will continue reassess the situation as it unfolds.
For information on additional courthouse closures, if any, visit the Court’s website, www.LACourt.org, and follow the Court on X (@LASuperiorCourt) and Threads (@LASuperiorCourt).
