LASC: Family Law Division Announces Courtroom Changes at the Whittier and Compton Courthouses

FAMILY LAW DIVISION ANNOUNCES COURTROOM CHANGES AT THE WHITTIER AND COMPTON COURTHOUSES

The Family Law Division will implement the following changes to courtroom operations, effective September 26, 2022:

Judge Emily T. Spear will be reassigned from Department N, Compton Courthouse, 200 W. Compton Blvd., Compton to Department 201, Whittier Courthouse, 7339 South Painter Ave., Whittier. All matters previously assigned to Department 201 will be assigned to Judge Spear for all purposes. All matters currently scheduled in Department 201 at the Whittier Courthouse shall remain calendared on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified.

Department N at the Compton Courthouse is dark until further notice. All matters previously assigned to Department N will be randomly redistributed and assigned to either Department M, Commissioner Kimberly Dotson, or Department 1, Judge Esther P. Kim, for all purposes. Parties will be notified on the date of the hearing what department the case has been reassigned to. All matters currently scheduled in Department N shall remain calendared on the dates and times previously set in the reassigned courtroom, unless otherwise notified.

Counsel and parties are instructed to indicate the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all documents submitted for filing to ensure proper departmental assignment, calendaring of hearings and document routing.
