Featuring California Supreme Court Associate Justice Martin J. Jenkins, This Free Virtual Workshop Will Offer a Panel Discussion on the Benefits of Judicial Mentorship for Legal Professionals

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County’s Judicial Mentor Program has opened registration for its next workshop, “Mentorship Matters: How Mentors Play a Key Role in Our Success.” Scheduled for noon on Thursday, September 26, this virtual workshop is a great opportunity for attorneys and commissioners in Los Angeles County who are interested in exploring a career on the bench.

“Effective mentorship plays a key role in the professional and personal development of all legal professionals, especially for those who are interested in applying for a career on the bench,” Presiding Judge Samantha P. Jessner said. “This next workshop offers legal professionals an opportunity to learn directly from distinguished judicial officers as well as Mr. Luis Céspedes, Governor Newsom’s Judicial Appointments Secretary, on the best strategies to navigate the judicial appointment process. I encourage anyone who is interested in pursuing a career on the bench to register and to learn from this invaluable workshop intended to demystify the judicial application and appointment process.”

The virtual workshop will feature a Question and Answer session about the judicial appointment and vetting process with Judicial Appointments Secretary Luis Céspedes, California Supreme Court Associate Justice Martin J. Jenkins and Justice Helen Zukin. Following the Question and Answer session, Judge Kimberley Baker Guillemet will moderate a panel discussion with Justice Martin J. Jenkins, Judge Firdaus F. Dordi and Judge Paris G. Lewis.
